Check Out the 2 Factor Authentication in Your Fitbit App

The sales of smartwatches in a pandemic are at an all-time high, which shows why the companies are continuously giving updates.


The latest update came from Fitbit, which is giving 2 Factor Authentication to the users so that their devices will become more secure and safe.

With activity and related location data being susceptible, Fitbit is finally providing support for two-factor authentication, which is a much-awaited one in the segment.

Fitbit users on Android and iOS are starting to see an ‘Increase your security sign that explains how two-factor authentication gives you an additional layer of security. Yes, this one is going to make your device more secure.

9 to 5 Google reported on Wednesday that Fitbit’s 2FA system looks at the code sent to the user’s phone through SMS. This is not the safest way, as per the chances of career spoofing is considered, but nothing better at this point.

Users can start by adding the phone number to their Fitbit account once the feature became live, tap profile avatar in the mobile app, and scroll to Account settings. Two-factor authentication will appear as an option here.

Turn on two-factor authentication and follow the on-screen commands to enter the phone number.

Users will receive an SMS with a verification code. They need to make sure their phone number can receive text messages. Usual SMS rates and charges may apply.

Users will confirm the one-time code and your password, while they will be provided with a retrieval code to keep them safe.

The report also says that if you enter the wrong 2 FA code several times in a row, your Fitbit account will temporarily be locked for 24 hours.

This change comes in the sign-in process as the Fitbit website will soon drop support to log in with Facebook.

You can also change the number associated with the 2FA.

In the first step, you have to turn off the factor authentication, the process for which is mentioned below follow:

Firstly, go into the Fitbit app, then tap the Today tab >
then select your profile picture.
Now tap Account Settings >
and then Two Factor Authentication.
Now turn off the 2 Factor Authentication option.
Now you’ll receive an SMS with a verification code.
here you have to enter the verification code and tap Confirm

After these steps now the number change process begins with the second step-

You have to go to the Fitbit app and tap the ‘Today tab’ >
go to your profile picture

Now Tap on Account Settings > then Two Factor Authentication. Now Tap your phone number. Here Enter your new number and tap Verify. Now you’ll receive an SMS with a verification code. Here you have to enter the verification code and tap Confirm. Here, turn on two-factor authentication.
